Introduction

Video Game Asylum for Bosses is intended to compile and analyze all of the Video Game bosses, villains and antagonists that we are aware of. These could be either the final bosses that you spend the entire game attempting to get to, villains within the game that either prove to be a demented madman intent on accomplishing a ridiculous scheme or plot that makes no feasible sense or just a boss you fight on your journey through the game. We will look at their contributions to their respective game titles, their evil/insanity levels, who they are, their faults, how their respective fights operate and what their eventual downfall was. The bosses/villains we include can range from the most memorable of encounters to even those fights you probably won't even remember. Please note, as of now we are enacting a major SPOILER ALERT: IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO ENCOUNTER ANY SPOILERS, LEAVE IMMEDIATELY. Please note, we do not possess or are aware of every video game in existence nor are we aware of all their components. The entries of this blog are added as we can post them or as we become aware. Also note their will be entries of bosses we have only heard of and researched so please forgive any errors or faults in our analysis. Please realize that these entries are heavily opinionated and are, for the most part for a comedic purpose, so if you have nothing better to do than insult or rant in disagreement, we will not regard you. Thank you for reading our blog and enjoy the inmates of Video Game Asylum for Bosses :)

Bowser, King of the Koopas
The Super Mario Franchise
Evil Factor: He is evil, but in a evilly persistent and harmless kind of way
Insanity Factor: Not actually insane, but is very irritable and ruthless
Powers: Spiked shell, fire breath, Giga Bowser form, seemingly indestructible, and unbelievable perseverance
Occupation: King of the Koopas

Description: If you never heard of Bowser, you've been living under a rock since the 1980's. Bowser isn't quite as evil as he is unbelievably persistent. Me and Dr. Evil decided to start off our list of villains with the King of Losers: King Bowser. For about 25 years now he has been kidnapping Princess Peach at every opportunity using his army of walking mushrooms and turtles. You fight him an uncountable amount of times and his perseverance makes his sanity questionable. Every time, he is beaten by a short Italian Plumber with an addiction for Mushrooms who then proceeds to rescue the princess. It's always a happy ending except for him. We don't think he is truly evil, kidnapping the princess is just his strange and misunderstood way of showing his affection for her. Don't agree with me? Play Super Mario Sunshine and you'll see that his son, Bowser Jr. who was instructed to also kidnap the princess, claims she is his mother. If that isn't a sign that he has a secret love for her, I don't know what is. Despite his frequent defeats, Bowser unfortunately never realizes that his misguided advances are unwanted. He may not be good at punching a cocky little plumber boy in the face but he has shown he is adept in sports such as baseball, tennis and especially golf. His arsenal seems to vary as he is seen with flying ships, a floating clown head and a giant robot of, guess what, himself. His attempts have become increasingly more and more ridiculous with him actually taking the princess off the planet and invading an island by challenging everyone to baseball for no apparent reason. In Super Smash Bros. Bowser's final smash allows him to become the invincible and frightening Giga Bowser. In the Mario and Luigi RPG's, Bowser's Inside Story more specifically, Bowser was a complete tool, he practically allowed himself to be manipulated by Fawful and 'Chippy'. Overall, we don't consider Bowser truly evil or insane, he is just highly persistent in getting rid of Mario and world domination and is a plain pain-in-the-ass but classic nuisance whose existence has become something of a joke.

The Godfather

The Wrath of Giga Bowser

Song: Liberi Fatali (Final Fantasy 8)
Albert Wesker
Resident Evil, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Resident Evil movies
Evil Factor: Completely Evil. Genocidal, backstabber, overall he is a douche, and highly terroristic
Insanity Factor: Lunatic. God complex, and has the belief of human inferiority
Powers: Unnatural speed, strength, and seemingly immortal
Occupation: CEO of Umbrella Corporation (post-Spencer, and in the movies), former STARS captain

Description: There are a few words that can describe Albert Wesker, one being bad ass, and the other is him being a complete asshole. At first, he appears to be your leader, the captain of your STARS team while investigating a mansion in the middle of an area of mass murders. Towards the end of the game though, when you least expect it he turns up and reveals his true colors. He reveals he is part of Umbrella and all the zombies and monsters roaming around killing people was their attempt at creating super humans. It is then he shows their true plan, an experimental monster called TYRANT that is supposed to become the next phase of humanity. His creation then proceeds to kill him. It seems then that he is dead, as fitting for such a backstabber right? WRONG! It is later revealed that prior to his death, he injected himself with an experimental form of the same virus that created the zombies that provide him with unnatural strength, speed and also near immortality but despite all of his powers, he has a weakness for lava as seen in Resident Evil 5. Despite being shot at by 2 people, he has the reflexes and the speed to simply phase out of the bullet's way and continuously beats the stuffing out of the protagonists. Throughout most of the series he works behind the scenes, making a few brief appearances, not appearing to have any substantial part in the viral outbreaks that take place in the various games. What you do see later on in the series is that during all these games, he was building up in the shadows, killing off the remnants of Umbrella to become the De Facto leader, stealing data and other viruses and so on. He sent an agent to steal the G-Virus from Resident Evil 2, is responsible for most of the events of Resident Evil: Code Veronica, even appearing in the remake, sent the same agent from Resident Evil 2 to recover the Las Plagas Parasite in Resident Evil 4 and made his explosive finale in Resident Evil 5 in his attempt to end humanity entirely and transform every living being into the monstrosities called the Uroboros. In Resident Evil 4 and the Umbrella Chronicles, he is seen wearing a suit and sitting in a swivel chair with his legs crossed in that Nerd Cave of his, wearing sunglasses in the dark, really showing how badass and overcompensating he really is. Wesker takes Nazism to the next level by believing that the whole human race is inferior and tries to transform them into what he sees as superior beings. Overall, Wesker is entirely evil, making him a memorable and well balanced villain that provided many great games in the Resident Evil Series. Also he may be a total bastard but scores bad ass points by showing off.

Scene from the Umbrella Chronicles, showing Wesker injecting himself before faking his death

The game that featured the official return of Wesker, it has aged pretty badly, but in its time it was great. Also do not forget to up the video quality, otherwise it'll look bad
Sephiroth
Final Fantasy VII, Dissidia, Kingdom Hearts, and Crisis Core

Evil Factor: Absolutely Evil. Sadistic, Ruthless, Emotionless, Murderous
Insanity Factor: Dangerously Insane. Loyal to his 'mother' Jenova, and has a messiah complex
Powers: Uses a big ass sword, can transform into an 'angel', uses a flashy attack called Supernova, teleportation and other attacks (best seen in Kingdom Hearts), can utilize deadly spells, and has an extremely memorable and epic theme One Winged Angel
Occupation: SOLDIER, 'mama's boy', Bringer of the end of the World

Description: A picture can say many things about a person, the one above screams to us saying 'Hey look I'm an emo!' Now don't get me wrong, but we do believe Sephiroth is a little bit overrated simply because of his absolute lack of emotion, personality, and when you finally get to the last fight with him, he is pathetic compared to all of the previous bosses especially that Fat-ass loser Palmer. I can understand that Omnislash, Cloud's ultimate ability can kill him in one hit but what many people most likely didn't realize is ANYTHING will kill him in one hit. For this fight, you don't need to do anything. None of his attacks will kill you and if he does attack, Cloud will counter and then kill him in one hit. Before his last stand though he has an extremely epic song called One Winged Angel, arguably the best boss theme to ever exist, and he also has an extremely flashy ability where he destroys Pluto, makes a hole in Jupiter and wrecks the Saturn rings called Supernova that doesn't make sense when he uses it twice or more. Who has the ability to destroy Pluto twice? According to some YouTube videos, Sephiroth is a terrible villain because his lack of emotion renders him boring and that cool sword he has is to compensate for something. Don't you dare rage about this guy fan boys, I didn't die once to this guy while I died on other Final Fantasy villains or had difficulty frequently. Overall, Sephiroth is all flash and is a mama's boy just like Norman Bates from Pyscho. I am the Godfather and this is my opinion of him. While he may have a big goal and has the means to accomplish it, most Final Fantasy villains also have big goals and the means to acquire them but have awesome personalities to back them up, such as Kefka from Final Fantasy VI or they may have some emotionally gripping story leading up to them like Sin/Jecht from Final Fantasy X. Arguably, Sephiroth is not even the antagonist despite what it appears since he is doing everything that Jenova is telling him to do. Since everything he does is for and because of Jenova, his apparent mother, that makes Jenova the technical main antagonist with him merely being a meat puppet to end the world for her. Do you know why people think he is such a good villain? It's simply because he killed Aerith and you Cloud fan-boys got carried away, get over it, it has been what 16 years? Aerith's death was not that effective, plus I didn't even like Aerith, she was so weird and weak as hell. Another thing that is wrong with Sephiroth is the fact that he failed to deliver the typical bad guy speech, let alone he barely spoke at all in the game, and what little he did say was either strange or cryptic. I am the Godfather and if you have a problem with my opinion, then go screw yourself and go die in a supernova.

The Godfather & Dr. Evil

Supernova
Real nonsensical when used twice
Adam MacIntyre
Dead Rising
Evil Factor: Not Inherently evil however he is extremely sadistic
Insanity Factor: Disturbingly Insane on multiple levels.
Powers?: Chainsaw Juggling, Abnormal Agility, nearly Bulletproof, somehow made clowns scarier
Occupation: Isn't it obvious?

Description: When you first see this boss, all you hear is high pitched laughter that automatically spell out crazy. When you add the fact that he juggles chainsaws and is a CLOWN that just adds on to the insanity. Adam is quite easily the most insane boss in the Dead Rising series thus far. He has an unusual movement pattern and his attacks are absurd from party gags to somehow blocking bullets with chainsaws. Merely hearing his voice continues to send chills down Godfather's spine. While we know little about Adam's past, the zombie outbreak either drove him to or agitated his insanity saying "Everybody used to laugh at me... But when the zombies came everyone died!" he says the second part almost cheerfully. If you weren't scared of clowns before, you can't say you aren't now, but if you are scared of clowns, we recommend that you never purchase Dead Rising without signing a waiver. He frequently laughs in an abnormal fashion and makes constant unusual noises and please note that this man is 45 years old. To top off his insanity is his death which to this day continues to sicken me and Frank West, the protagonist. When you see a grown man fall on top of two chainsaws to have his insides torn to pieces while watching him laugh about it and you aren't disturbed by it, you need to visit a psychologist immediately because you clearly have something wrong with you.

Disclaimer: This video is not for the faint of heart, if you can't stand gore or clowns, DO NOT WATCH THIS!

Gargarensis
Age of Mythology

Evil Factor: Ruthless, Tyrannical, Power-hungry
Insanity Factor: Sacrifices comrades, and wants to release Kronos
Powers: Can throw human soldiers, is pretty strong, and in the campaign he gains near immortality
Occupation: Warlord

Description: Gargarensis is the main antagonist of the original strategy game, Age of Mythology (although it was technically Kronos). Gargarensis did not appear in the campaign until after the Siege of Troy levels where he tries to enter Erebus to unlock the Gates of Tartaurus. Gargarensis proves to be a worthy adversary and has a massive army at his command, even owning a seemingly endless supply of citadels and fortresses. I respect Gargarensis for having good military tactics but on a few levels he is nearly impossible to defeat on the hardest difficulty, Titan mode. Although I call him a coward for always slipping away at the last second, I have to hand it to him, he is very good at it. Whenever he gets pissed, his eye glows red and he seems to almost always comes close to impaling the offender with his silver trident. As the son of Poseidon, he was tasked with freeing his grandfather, Kronos with promises of power. In the last level he gains near immortality with an unimaginable health regeneration speed. His onslaughts can prove devastating if one is not prepared, and he is equally adept at defending, especially in the levels where you must control more than one separate force where large scale pincer attacks are necessary to triumph due to the mere viscosity of the defenses.  His subordinates are just as crafty but not nearly as strong, Kamos the Pirate, and Kemsyt the Bandit both have large pockets and combined have a pretty sizable force, Kemsyt owning a deceptively large force considering the fact that he is just a mere bandit. Gargarensis is very arrogant and I thought that his death was well deserved, ironic, and somewhat humorous, the irony being that he was impaled by a trident wielded by a statue of his own father that was retrieved in the second level of the game after Kamos lost it to the protagonist and his army. Overall Gargarensis is a brilliant tactician, a power hungry maniac, and even backstabs his own comrades (Kemsyt), and lastly his ambitions got him far but fell short when he got impaled.

Dr. Evil

Villain

Doctor Edward Richtofen
Call of Duty: Nazi Zombies mode
Evil Factor: He is a playable Nazi, nicknamed the Butcher, he is very sadistic, relishes in blood and murder, backstabber, and is the sole catalyst of the existence of the Nazi Zombies mode
Insanity Factor: He is a sociopath, loves severed body parts, sadist, treats zombies as his children, and his quotes suggest that he is in fact insane
Powers: After the Moon incident he gains control over the zombies, becoming the demonic announcer, and is the creator of most of the wonder weapons (especially the DG-2 Wunderwaffe)
Occupation: Nazi, Doctor, member of Group 935, developer of wonder weapons, currently he is the Demonic Announcer in Black Ops 2

Description: Words can barely describe the full insanity of this twisted madman, in order to discover the true depth of his madness, you would have to play as him in the Nazi Zombie maps prior to Moon. He often mentions blood and murder and has no concept of emotions. Dr. Richtofen is the person that inspired my nickname, Dr. Evil. Zombies under his control have blue eyes while those that are controlled by the original demonic announcer, Samantha Maxis have red eyes. By far he is the most interesting Nazi Zombies character, in my opinion, right next to Nicholai the Russian character. He absolutely loves blood and gore, and his favorite past-time appears to be torture, murder, and inflicting pain on others. In fact he joined the military just to achieve these pleasures. According to his backstory, he attempted to murder his partner and friend, Dr. Maxis because he was being distracted by the secretary known as Sophia, and this affair put a kink in the manufacturing of the chain lightning bolt weapon, the DG-2 Wunderwaffe and the whole incident ended up creating the Hell Hounds and the zombie outbreak. Also he owns a collection of stuffed animals positioned to show the fear and suffering they experienced prior to death. He manipulated the other zombie characters to do his bidding in order to become the Demonic Announcer and the leader of all zombies by body switching with Samantha Maxis. Everything that he says, even his tone of voice gives the feeling of insanity, in fact he has proven to have schizophrenic tendencies. Overall he has a very interesting personality, his quotes are often funny in a twisted way, he is evil to the bone and is perhaps one of the most twisted, demented, and overall insane villains that we know.

BREAKING NEWS!!!    (7/5/13)

As of the Black Ops 2 Vengeance DLC pack, in the zombies map Buried, it is revealed that Dr. Maxis is the true antagonist, with a sudden twist of events and Dr. Maxis betrays the Green Run group, and can usurp (player determined) Richtofen as Demonic Announcer. Then he would attempt to get back to his Daughter, Samantha who is in Richtofen's body due to the Easter egg, Richtofen's Grand Scheme on the Moon in Black Ops 1. By trying to reach out to her can very well cause the end of the world (despite the fact it was already blown up by nukes due to the events on Moon). Richtofen may have been crazy and sadistic, but his control over the zombies was very limited if not non-existent, but Dr. Maxis just suddenly proved to be more evil and selfish by risking the very destruction of Earth and the rest of the survivors to just be with the daughter who may or may not be alive. He may have posed as a good guy at first but Buried showed his true intentions, the madness he harbors - I sure as hell didn't see it coming and I am sure interested in how far his ambitions will get him.
Doctor Mercer
Dead Space 1
Evil Factor: Helps the Necromorphs, creates the first Hunter, murders many for 'divinity', inhibits travel through the Ishimura, planned on bringing the Necromorphs back to Earth
Insanity Factor: Avoid getting seen by him at all costs, illogical, worships the Necromorphs as angels
Powers: The ability to travel through the Ishimura without getting attacked once - at least until he    allowed himself to be killed and transformed
Occupation: Doctor, Worshipper of the Necromorphs, Unitoligist

Description: One of the last few survivors of the Ishimura crew to die, Dr. Mercer is the only living crewman who tries to kill Isaac in his journey through hell. For whatever reason, Dr. Mercer and the church of Unitology see the Necromorphs as angels and worships them as the evolution of mankind. If he had survived the whole ordeal and was arrested by law enforcement, he would probably be sued for malpractice, but would probably get off the hook for his crimes since he is a devout follower to the Church of Unitology - an absurd and corrupt religion that has devout followers within the government who probably would support his cause like most of the other cultists would, however this is all theoretical and never happened since he died on the Ishimura. He allowed an Infector to kill him so that he could become a 'divine entity', a common enemy called a Slasher and to add insult to injury, you can actually prevent his infection by killing the Infector. At one point this maniac sends his pet, the first Hunter in the series to kill you which will proceed to hunt you down through many different areas and is virtually unkillable thanks to its limb regeneration ability - fortunately the Hunter is allergic to fire and is finally killed by a rocket engine. To me, Mercer is the most insane villain in the Dead Space series, above Tideman, Kendra, and possibly the equivalent to that nerd/douchebag Danik. Tragically, Jacob Temple, the possible equivalent to Isaac in survival who leaves audio logs throughout the ship, finally has his luck run out when Dr. Mercer found him.  You eventually find Mercer killing Temple and his girlfriend by shoving some kind of nail through their heads in order to make the infection easier. In the end, Mercer is a complete and utter bastard and didn't deserve to become 'divine' which is exactly why I kill the Infector quickly, and he is also one of the reasons why many people died on the Ishimura. He planned to bring the infection back to earth which is why Dr. Kyne, his superior sabotaged the ship. Mercer and all Unitologists are idiots, believing that necromorphs and their creators, the markers, are holy simply because some fruit cake from a few hundred years ago said they were. He is perhaps the worst villain of them all through the Dead Space series, rivaling Danik from Dead Space 3.

Dr. Evil & The Godfather
The Joker
The Batman Arkham Series

Evil Factor: Dangerously Evil, Extremely Erratic and Unpredictable in his actions. Loves nothing more than to cause death, destruction and chaos.
Insanity Factor: Do I even need to say anything? Look Up.
Powers: None except when under the influence of TITAN which grants him incredible strength and resilience
Occupation: Crime Lord, Career Criminal, Certified Lunatic

Description: In a list of Evil and Insane villains, you had to know this guy would appear. The Arkham Series is filled with villains and bosses that are the definition of crazy but none of them compare to the sheer insanity that the Joker represents. Nothing this guy does can be in any way considered sane and to add to the insanity, he is completely unpredictable. Some inmates in his gang during the Arkham City game can be heard saying that sometimes he just lets people join while other times he will cruelly torture and kill those searching admittance. He on purposely goes around wearing a purple suit with a dead flower and a white face, green hair and an unnaturally large smile drawn onto his face. The Joker, in every appearance he makes does nothing but take pleasure in death and chaos. His whole purpose in Arkham Asylum was to obtain the TITAN formula so that he could make hundreds of gigantic super-soldiers whose sole purpose was to kill indiscriminately. Ultimately this ambition kills him when he injects himself and later dies in Arkham City due to a nasty after effect. While he continues to occasionally make Dr. Evil and myself laugh due to his humorous trickster-like behavior, Joker can not be described as anything other than a violent sociopath that enjoys murdering and torturing people for his own amusement. He is the bane of Batman's existence, bringing multiple tragedies upon him, sometimes even telling him to kill him, to torture him in a way that is even worse than physical torment, for Batman will not kill anyone. The Joker is the cause of countless deaths and an uncountable amount in property damage. It is still a mystery as to why someone hasn't killed him yet. The Joker is an amazing villain, responsible for countless evils and is Dangerously insane in all regards.

Princess Peach
Super Mario Franchise
Evil Factor: Racist?
Insanity Factor: Unknown
Powers: None
Occupation: Princess

Description: And you thought Bowser was the true antagonist of the Super Mario Franchise? He was just a boss, Princess Peach is the true villain behind it all. Originally we were doing this just as a joke, but we analyzed the super Mario franchise deeply and ended up finding that she may be a racist. Think about it, the 1980's were not too long after the Civil Rights movement in America and her Kingdom used to consist of Toads AND Goombas. If the Goombas were her subjects, then why do they serve Bowser? The brown Goombas were prejudiced by the white Toads. We do believe that Peach was just too high at the time to realize of the plight of the Goombas or just did not care because there is no evidence that she actually did anything to curve the racism, which ended up leading to the defection of the Goombas. Due to the defection, Bowser gained a massive army of kamikaze foot soldiers that would walk right off a cliff in his name. She may not be a boss, but she is here because she might be a racist dictator, plus she lives among hippies because everyone is addicted to the shrooms, and no one likes a hippie. Not only she is a hippie, but she is also annoying as hell with her stupid cries for help and speech pattern, that I find annoying. Also in Super Smash Bros. she uses her own subjects as human shields in order to protect herself from say a rocket fired by Snake. She really has no choice in that respect as all her guards scatter and flee at the first sight of danger, but this may be to aid her fetish for being kidnapped. That's right, she lets herself be kidnapped and is the reason you have to jump through 8 different worlds and castles just to rescue her sorry ass. Overall, Peach is a racist, tyrannical dictator who prejudiced her people, has a fetish for being rescued every five seconds and doesn't even have the decency to invite Bowser and her former people, the Goombas, to play Baseball on some fancy island she made for the white people.

Just for you all to know, this is just a joke, not to be taken seriously
Master Xehanort
Kingdom Hearts
Evil Factor: Dangerously Ambitious, Seeks the Ultimate power, highly persistent
Insanity Factor: Creates the heartless, consistently returns, Do not be friends with him
Powers: Many, Capability of fighting despite age, (Xemnas Final Form) Zebra Powers
Occupation: Keyblade Master, Scientist, Terrorist, Old Man, Leader of Organization XIII, Seeker of Darkness, and Creator of most Enemies

Description: Old - yes, Evil - yes, Bald - yes, Amazing fights - yes. Xehanort is the prime antagonist of Kingdom Hearts and almost 90% of the time he is or one of his variants are the last boss of each game. In some way Master Xehanort is responsible for all of the events in the story, such as the creation of the Heartless. Do not let his appearance fool you though, Xehanort is bad to the brittle bone and has thought out his master plan almost all too well, planning out a back up scheme for every little possibility - and he is also the prime reason why the Kingdom Hearts storyline became so hard for some people to follow that some might actually have to read about what happened after playing the game. The picture to the right is of Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, who was the douche that possessed Riku close to the end of the original and was the last boss of that game, however his fight was not merely as impressive as Xemnas, the nobody on the left. Xemnas is quite literally a Nobody, a being that shouldn't exist and has no heart, although his fight is by far the most epic in the franchise so far in my eyes, he is quite ridiculous - he believes that the nothingness has power, but that is ok because the fight was still epic, and I got to bear witness to perhaps the  one of the most epic attacks ever in a videogame. Xehanort is a highly calculating individual that has thought out his scheme extremely well, making him a great villain, but he might actually be more successful if he was not OLD! Oh wait I forgot about Young Xehanort - a version of Xehanort from when he was a teenager with the power to time travel, HOW MUCH SENSE DOES THAT MAKE!? If he traveled into the future, then he would know how it would turn out AND he would create a Time Paradox if I am understanding the rules of Time Travel correctly, which should alter how he ends up winning in the end (I think). Personally I don't think Young Xehanort was a necessary addition to the variants of Xehanort, but I can live with it despite Time Travel is so overwhelmingly complicated. Overall, Xehanort is a cunning, calculating villain who see's details and will do everything to the very fiber of his soul to get what he wants - so far as to go and split himself into a Heartless and a Nobody, knowing somebody would try to stop him.

The Pain
Metal Gear Solid 3: Operation Snake Eater
Evil Factor: Works for the Pro-War sect of the Soviet Union, is part of The Boss' COBRA unit
Insanity Factor: Seems to not comprehend friendly fire, is obsessed with pain.
Powers: Has the ability to control a Swarm of Hornets through the power of dance
Occupation: World War II veteran, COBRA

Description: The Pain is a COBRA, an elite soldier who defected to the Soviet Union with Snake's mentor, The Boss. The COBRAs were the parents of American Special Ops and led America to victory in WWII. The Pain is blindly devoted to The Boss and likely did not even know her true motives. The Pain fights you through a swarm of bees that he controls with a queen bee contained in his backpack. He uses his swarm to overwhelm and tear apart opponents, providing them with painful deaths. He possess pheromone vials that he uses to lure bees to a target as well as shield himself, carry grenades and bring him his Tommy Gun, all with bees. Not only can The Pain control Swarms of Bees, but he also measures up to 6"7 and within his body were a special breed called bullet bees, much more powerful and faster bees that he shoots from his mouth that deal a large amount of damage and cause an injury equivalent to that of a bad gunshot. The Pain is as his name suggests, obsessed with Pain. He is obsessed with the Pain he brings into battle and the Pain he inflicts on others. In the end though, despite his extraordinary abilities, The Pain is struck down by Snake and blows up along with his swarm.

Gnasty Gnorc
Spyro the Dragon
Evil Factor: Pathetically so, Simple, Bully
Insanity Factor: Only if a lack of intelligence counts
Powers: Magic, and incredible running speed despite his short, stubby legs
Occupation: Warlord?

Description: Gnasty Gnorc is like Bowser, in the way that he is highly pathetic. Although he only appeared twice in the original series, he is shown to be an easy foe, having obvious weaknesses, and in the original he is portrayed as a pussy. In the original he petrifies all of the dragons because one of them was making fun of him, however he missed Spyro - according to the one dragon he is a simple creature and is no threat at all. When you finally reach Gnasty Gnorc, he apparently only takes 2 hits to defeat.... all of the other bosses took 3 and much of this fight is just you chasing him or one of his two key keepers. Not only does he run away in fear from you but he also rarely attacks - and that's if you are far enough away from him when he's stopped. The only real way to fail this level is if you don't make it through the gauntlet of receding platforms before they disappear entirely inside the walls thus making it impossible to reach him. In his second appearance in the original series, he actually fights back and is significantly tougher than any of the bosses in the first game, albeit he makes his weak spot quite clear after he smashes the ground and his mace gets stuck, giving you the opportunity to torch his ass (literally). Also in this appearance, he strongly believes that he won the last time that they met - even though he just recently came back to life after being killed in the original, so either he forgot what happened or he is just a dumbass. His army of Gnorcs are actually his creations - he created them by using his magic on Gems which turned them into Gnorcs like him, making Gnasty the original Gnorc in the game since all others were created by him. Trivia: Gnorcs are a crossbreed between an Orc and a Gnome. I only like Gnasty Gnorc because in my childhood my favorite videogames were the first 3 Spyro games and so he should be here as one of the first videogame villains that I have vanquished. I actually expected more from the last boss after seeing a sheep dressed as a scarecrow wielding a scythe, an armored Witch Doctor, a giant robot, and a what-the-fuck-is-that.

The Fear
Metal Gear Solid 3: Operation Snake Eater
Evil Factor: Works for Volgin and The Boss, COBRA
Insane Factor: Has an obsession with fear and infliction of it.
Powers: Uses a crossbow with extreme precision, possess an invisibility device and can dislocate his own shoulders to move around like a spider.
Occupation: COBRA

Description: The Fear is the second COBRA you fight in Operation Snake Eater. As his name suggests, he is absolutely obsessed with Fear. You fight him in a very suitable area, forested, boxed in and trapped. He leaps from tree to tree like a monkey and moves around like a spider, making him extremely erratic and unpredictable. His attacks are quite annoying as well, always resulting in an injury requiring you to use medical supplies on. What is most disturbing about the Fear in opinion though, is not his ability to move like a spider, but how he does it. On account of extensive surgeries, he has the ability to dislocate his shoulders at will. The Fear's cloaking device does cause him to hemorrhage stamina, making a non-lethal kill simplistic. He will occasionally run down and kill an animal to recharge but this is a hidden weakness. If you throw out poisonous food (there are poison dart frogs in the area) and he eats it, not only will it hurt him but he'll be incapacitated for a good amount of the fight, becoming far easier to hit and greatly lowering his accuracy. A good way to do this is to remove all possible food except for poison and be sure to throw them out too. Since he will already be low on stamina when he eats, this is a great way to stamina kill him since it quickly drains him. Upon his death, The Fear is suspended across the trees, claiming he sees the fear. He explodes, causing large amounts of crossbow bolts to shoot out in different directions.

Really lives up to his name doesn't he?
Chef Antoine Thomas
Dead Rising 2

Evil Factor: Cannibal, Captures people to use as food
Insanity Factor: Obsessed with getting a 4-star rating, lost his chance because of the outbreak
Powers: Heals by eating human flesh, incredible precision with frying pans, and can also block bullets with said frying pans
Occupation: Chef Boyardee

Description: Among all of the crazies in Dead Rising 2, Chef Boyardee - err I mean Antoine, is among the craziest. For starters he is obsessed with the arrival of a restaurant critic, who never shows up due to the zombie apocalypse in Fortune City, and is even further obsessed with creating the perfect meal: Human flesh, which he plans on creating by killing survivors. He is one of Dead Rising 2's first few optional bosses, but if it is your first time playing or if you aren't at a certain level, please do refrain from approaching the side mission Tastes Like Chicken, otherwise you will get your ass kicked with a frying pan. When the hero Chuck pisses this Chef off, he goes over the edge completely. In the fight you can barely do anything to hurt him, he blocks bullets with that frying pan of his, and melee is rather unfavorable against him, the only time that he is vulnerable is when he goes to that pot of his and starts eating his Cannibals Delight Feast. Personally, I thought that his death was rather painful to watch compared to other Psychopath bosses. Do note that he is in the food court so there is plenty of restoratives in the other restaurants, and there are a few bottles of Wine in his restaurant. The best weapon to use on him is either the Driller (Drill+ Spear), the Knife Glove (Boxing Gloves+ Bowie Knife), or the Defiler (Sledgehammer+ Fire Axe), use whichever you prefer to beat this fat ass.

Poor Chef Boyardee

Seymour Guado
Final Fantasy X
Evil Factor: Wants to kill everyone, wants to become a giant monster, murders comrades, abducts Yuna to force her into marriage
Insanity Factor: Murders his way to a pope-like position, illogical
Powers: Magic, Summoning, transformation (when undead), Crazy hair
Occupation: Religious Leader

Description: Buddhism was founded by a guy who sat under a tree all day, this guy found his own religion somewhere in his life, but rather than bringing back Buddhist ideologies, he took Spira's version of Buddhism to a new extreme. Seymour is a perfect example of good villains being overshadowed, in Seymour's case, he was completely overshadowed by Jecht who was the giant beastie Sin, and Yu Yevon. Over time he murders his own comrades to ascend into power as a pope-like figure to further his own ends. He plans on gaining everyone's trust, force Yuna's hand in marriage, use her so that he can become the new Sin, and the next part of his scheme was rather absurd, he wants to save everybody from being killed by Sin, by becoming Sin and then kill them all so that they won't be killed by Sin. Some people call him Mr. Crazy hair, while others call him the Anti-Buddha. After the first fight with him, he returns consistently as an undead (called an Unsent) but despite this, he is immune to Phoenix Downs and healing spells, and his forms just keep getting stronger, but I actually found his final form to be much easier than the previous two. Some people may not know this but his favorite Aeon is his mother (Anima).

The uglier lower part is featured in her overdrive

See the picture above? You probably did, and this is probably one of the ugliest women that I've known, but Anima is a force to be reckoned with, being WAY stronger than Bahamut. Anyone who may have made fun of Seymour's mother while fighting him probably didn't realize that she could kill you instantly by merely blinking. Before you kill Seymour for the first time, he sicks his mother onto you before he and his bodyguards come in lazily to pick up where she left off.  It is highly likely that at some point in the Anima fight that she will use her Overdrive, which may kill your weaker party members. You can claim Anima as your own Aeon by going to Baaj Temple (which is hidden on the map) with all of the destruction spheres from all of the other Temples. In the PAL or International version her Overdrive: Oblivion can do as much as 1,600,000 damage overall where the normal attack does a stunning 99,999. Fortunately it doesn't do near as much damage in the fight against her or you would be screwed big time.

He was considered for Final Fantasy Dissidia as the evil representative but was once again overshadowed by Jecht. His personality eventually found its way to the villain from Final Fantasy 2, Emperor Mateus, best known as the Emperor.

Dr. Evil
The End
Metal Gear Solid 3: Operation Snake Eater
Evil Factor: COBRA, Serves the Boss and Volgin
Insane Factor: Not Actually insane. Is fixated with Oblivion.
Powers: Quite possibly the best sniper ever. Has achieved complete harmony with nature. Super Camouflage powers and Photosynthesis
Occupation: "Father of Modern Sniping." COBRA

Description: As you can probably tell, I thought Metal Gear Solid 3: Operation Snake Eater was a fantastic game with great bosses. The End was definitely my favorite out of all of them, quite possibly one of my favorite bosses ever. The End is the Father of Modern Sniping and lives up to that title. He rarely misses and possess many abilities that sniper's need. He is an expert at finding suitable cover, can blend into his environment, can lower his body temperature to blend with his surroundings, has a parrot to act as a spotter for him and has the power to photosynthesize. I'm not joking about that last part, when his stamina starts to decrease, he will sometimes stand in the sunlight and absorb it, restoring it. The downside to that however, is that you can clearly hear him doing so, thus making him vulnerable (interesting note: if you can do a successful hold-up on The End, you can obtain his camouflage which not only can get you to 100% Camo in wooded environments, but in sun-lit areas it can restore your stamina over time). The thing I love about this fight is how many mechanics can be used in it. To defeat him, you can either attempt a counter-sniper act with the SVD or attempt to find and sneak up behind him. This fight spans a total of three areas, a plateau, a river and a forest, each one filled with areas for him to ambush you in. The game has and suggests that you make use of absolutely everything you have to fight him. Your directional mic can be used to actually track his breathing, you can use your sonar, anti personnel detector etc. to attempt to locate him and you can even use the thermal goggles not only to see where he's hiding, but to track his footprints, which can greatly simplify the battle. You can kill or capture his parrot if you see it which can make it harder for him to spot you but I suggest capturing it alive as The End becomes angered and aggressive if you kill it. No matter what however, The End cannot kill you since he uses tranquilizers. In fact, if you just simply eat after getting shot you'll be fine. If he somehow manages to take you down, he'll simply take you to the prison where you were at before fighting the Fear allowing you to return and try again. Eating is a priority to this fight since if you aren't as cautious or experienced in the fight your stamina is the only real problem. What some people aren't aware of though that you don't even need to fight The End. When he first appears outside the warehouse at the swamp along with The Boss, The Fear and Volgin, before the guards wheel his chair inside, provided you obtained the SVD earlier, you can actually kill him right there (watch out though, after he dies, he explodes, launching debris at you). Doing this however is unadvisable as you miss out on a fun fight and instead have to fight an ocelot unit. Another thing many people probably didn't know about is if you save and either wait a week or set the internal clock of your console forward a week, he dies of old age. You kind of have to expect this since PARAMEDIC does warn you something bad might happen if you save and don't come back soon so it is foreshadowed but also because this guy is RIDICULOUSLY old (be careful using this tactic because if you only wait 3 or 4 days, he ambushes you and takes you to the prison immediately. The End is a really fun boss, being highly technical and requiring you to make use of the skills that the game tries to emphasize. To defeat him, all you need is a little finesse and a lot of patience.

The Godfather

Edgar Ross
Red Dead Redemption
Evil Factor: Kidnaps John's family to force him to hunt down his former gang. Despite promising to leave him in peace he eventually returns, overruns John's farm and ultimately kills John and Uncle
Insane Factor: Overly dedicated to the elimination of crime in the West and to fulfill Manifest Destiny and for whatever reason, uses a retired criminal to do so.
Powers: Ultimate Laziness; tasked with the elimination of crime in the West, rather than actually doing it himself or with a police force, kidnaps an innocent woman and adolescent to force a retired bank robber to do it for him. Super mustache powers.
Occupation: FBI Agent

Description: Edgar Ross is the primary antagonist in Red Dead Redemption. While he doesn't appear until late in the game, in the short time you know him he proves to be a gigantic asshole. Not only is he deceitful, sardonic and annoyingly sarcastic, he kidnaps John's family to bring him out of retirement to hunt down the most dangerous criminals in the West by himself with nothing more than a revolver. He couldn't even be bothered to give you some ammo, a more efficient weapon or even a simple "good luck John." The guy is rude as hell seeing as how whenever he is around he either finds some way to insult you or makes a sarcastic remark about how he has your family in captivity. When he isn't being some FBI douchebag he pimps for that pathetic secretary "yes-man" Fordham that follows him everywhere, never once questioning his methods. He strongly advocates federalism and even admits to his own hypocrisy, saying his actions, while hypocritical are necessary. He eventually allows John to go free to be with his family, but a little while later betrays you. Through a climactic battle, John, Jack and Uncle cut down many of the U.S. Army that attacks their farm, eventually killing Uncle, forcing Jack and Abigail to retreat, leaving John alone to kill as many as he can until a large amount of soldiers and FBI agents  shoot him a ridiculous amount of times bringing a poetic ending to John's life, finally achieving redemption, ensuring his family's safety at the cost of his life. Jack eventually hunted Ross down a few years later. He showed no remorse for John's death, claiming "We all eventually pay for what we've done Marston." He fulfills this quote in that Jack than proceeds to shoot him multiple times. Ross is a complete asshole though makes up for it in a super amazing mustache and a poetic end.

Good for Jack, putting down that book and picking up a gun
Ripto
Original Spyro series
Evil Factor: Racist, bent on domination, very vengeful
Insanity Factor: Will stop at nothing to kill a dragon, repeatedly returns for a ass-whooping
Powers: Magic
Occupation: Dictator, Evil Wizard

Description: Ripto is the short, evil wizard of the original Spyro series with an absolute hatred of dragons. He is the self-proclaimed dictator of the realm of Avalar and will do anything possible to get rid of dragons, of which he can smell. He can be considered as the Arch-nemesis to Spyro, as he is the most recurring of any villain in the original series. He sends his two henchmen, Crush and Gulp to do most of his dirty work, but unfortunately for him they are just far too stupid to do anything right (especially Crush). One time he teamed up with Crash Bandicoot's arch-nemesis Neo Cortex in an effort to get the two to kill each other, however the plan backfired and the Crash/Spyro team foiled their plans. Ripto is a despicable madman who enjoys power simply for the sake of it. He delights in causing all sorts of trouble and havoc with his magic, and is known for his general disgust for Dragons. In truth, Ripto despised his small stature, and he took it out on the world to prove that his wrath was much bigger and scarier than his modest size suggested. Frustrated, short tempered and spiteful, Ripto pulled off deception and trouble that would suit a large, intimidating creature. One thing is for certain: he's an ill-tempered villain who despises being called short (this is displayed when Spyro called him "shorty"). In his appearance in Enter the Dragonfly, he murders Crush and Gulp very close to the beginning of the game when he realized his plan failed. According to the wiki, in the European version's manual they give the reason why he hates dragons so, when he was young he was bullied by dragons for being short and his inability to wield magic (he was a dinosaur), which explains why he hates dragons, and he aspired to prove them wrong by getting a scepter which would allow him to use magic. If Ripto did not have a Scepter, ultimately he would be defenseless entirely. Despite falling into lava after the last fight, he is shown to have survived in the epilogue. Despite being a recurring villain, he is shown to be able to hold his own against Spyro, more so than several other villains and bosses in the game series.

Dr. Evil
Kamos
Age of Mythology

Evil Factor: Pirate, made numerous attempts to destroy Atlantis in the past prior to the Trojan War levels
Insanity: Mind set on lashing the hero, Arkantos' head to his mast, hand fed Leviathans to tame them
Powers: Khopesh hand, tamed a Leviathan and other sea creatures, Minotaur Gore
Occupation: orphaned Egyptian Minotaur Pirate, adopted son of the Egyptian Goddess Bast, possible cohort of the bandit Anubite, Theris

Description: Kamos is a pirate, albeit a somewhat intelligent one. He got that sword hand after his first attempt to tame a Leviathan by hand-feeding it. Like the Minotaur unit, he can also use their special ability to bash his head into a unit, dealing damage and sending them flying. Out of the three main antagonists of Age of Mythology, Kamos is the more reckless of the trio and only attacked Atlantis in the two levels to set up a diversion from Troy in order to extend Gargarensis' efforts to dig up the tunnel to Erebus, who foresaw that Arkantos would eventually discover his scheme. Kamos always worships an Egyptian Major God, while Kemsyt and Gargarensis are more flexible. On easier difficulties, Kamos' bases tend to be wide open, barely walled up or not at all, however he attacks more often than his two comrades (depending on which level we are talking about). When Kamos was young, he was kidnapped by the Goddess Bast from a Fishing Ship and for reasons unknown, he harbors great rage, which may explain his military recklessness. He can be easily considered as Arkantos' arch nemesis since they have a personal hatred for each other, Kamos killed Arkantos' wife during a raid prior to the game. He died trying to defend the last piece of Osiris in the second to last Egyptian level, the first of the trio to die. When given the element of surprise, Kamos can be a quite formidable enemy on harder difficulties, especially in the first level if you can't keep up with his onslaught. His favorite myth unit appears to be Anubites, so watch your archers.

Dr. Evil
Duc Volpe, The Wolf
Stronghold 1, Stronghold 3

Evil Factor: Hell bent on killing 'the boy' (the unnamed protagonist)
Insanity Factor: Claims that the people will suffer for rising up against him
Powers: Good Tactician
Occupation: Duke, mastermind of the conspirators, would-be king of Britain

Description: The Wolf takes the term complete bastard to a whole new extreme, especially with his revenge in Stronghold 3. He was the main antagonist of the original Stronghold, and proved to be far more formidable than his idiotic cohorts, The Rat, The Snake, and The Pig. His fortresses are so well built that they deserve the title of true Strongholds. His military generally consist of the best of the best, and in large numbers. First he and his cohorts kill the unnamed protagonists father, then they take over all of Britain, even Scotland. He somehow survives death, starts over and KILLS you. Out of all of the Stronghold characters, The Wolf is by far the toughest, even with the new cast in Stronghold 2. Don't be surprised if he uses harassment techniques, since he always uses them and when he does besiege you, he can prove to be a devastating commander. Only experienced or good players have a remote chance to beat him, just a fair warning. Despite 'killing' him in the last level of the original, he returns for Stronghold 3, even though he was impaled through the chest and fell off a tower. Little to nothing is known about The Wolf since most information about him is just rumors. On the rare occasion that he does become pissed he snarls like a wolf. He is one of the more efficient rulers of the series, ruling through terror and he is a very demanding ally in Stronghold Crusader, seemingly always sending demands for resources to his allies. In his grand re-emergence, he allied himself with the sons of previous comrades, the Rat Brothers, and the Pig's son, he also has a new, mysterious middle-eastern ally, the Jackal. I have a personal hatred for the Wolf, but at the same time I respect his military techniques and defenses, while I solely use simple strategies in Historic Siege mode. When you besiege him, he is constantly thinking of cunning ways to repel the invasion, and effectively too. Overall, the Wolf is an intimidating bastard, and is very, very good at everything, having little to no weaknesses.
The narrator is the Wolf but see what I mean, he is a bastard
 Dr. Evil

Kefka Palazzo
Final Fantasy
Evil Factor: Murders comrades, minions, and is extremely sadistic towards his enemies
Insanity Factor: He is crazy in every sense of the word and every fashion possible, Thus far the craziest villain on our list, absolutely no regard for human life, not at all remorseful, lives for destruction and murder, also is there such a thing as being beyond insane?
Powers: Powerful Magic
Occupation: Looks like a Jester but is Emperor Gestahl's right-hand man, Destroyer of Everything and Anything, hopes to be the Obliterator of Existence

Description: By far Kefka has got to be one of the most crazy videogame villains that I am aware of, and is one of the craziest people on our list so far. He has a disturbingly wide grin on his face similar to the Joker, but those not familiar with him would say that he is a Joker rip off, but he is far from that other than his appearance. FF6 may not be as well known as 7,8,9, or 10, but it deserves recognition. Believe or not, Kefka is actually a better villain than Sephiroth (we know that we will be lynched for such heresy) because unlike old Seph, Kefka actually has a personality AND was successful in breaking the world, something Sephiroth failed to accomplish. He relishes murder so much that he practically lives to do so. He volunteered himself to be the first Magitek Knight which gifted him with incredible power, however since the process had not been perfected yet, his sanity was shattered as a side effect to the point that he wants to destroy existence just for the heck of it, while Sephiroth was told to do so by his schizophrenic voice that he calls his mother. Sure FF6 was not in 3D like FF7 but so what? Graphics don't make a game - would we really want to play a game solely for graphics - there are games that had good graphics out there but had terrible gameplay. FF6 grinding is actually extremely simple compared to its future predecessors and technically Kefka can be beaten at a very low level (apparently, although I would not recommend this at all). When the Empire besieged Cyan's home, Doma, he resorted to poisoning the water supply, killing absolutely everyone except for Cyan... He butchered men, women, children, and yet only Cyan survived. Yet he showed no remorse for any of his actions throughout the game - in fact he was amused by the dying cries of the people of Doma, and until his ascension to godhood, this singular event proved to be his worst case of genocide. Unlike most FF villains, Kefka was not always powerful, in fact his power grew dramatically over the course of the game to the point that he broke the world. When you finally decide to go take the battle to Kefka, and venture through the mess that he calls a tower,  Kefka reveals his goal: in his view, life is meaningless and everything will only end up being destroyed. The heroes deny his claims by citing how, despite the world being in ruin, they have found positive things on which to hold on, such as learning what love is. Kefka finds their examples sickening, comparing them to a "self-help booklet", and decides to destroy everything, even the essence of life itself. The final fight with Kefka might have been inspired by  Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, an epic poem in which Dante travels through Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. In the Divine Comedy, Hell is where Satan is a demon entrapped up to the waist, Purgatory is a place of suffering and spiritual growth, and Heaven is where Dante meets famous saints. This is reflected by Visage in the first tier, Tiger, Magic, Power and Machine in the second tier, and Rest and Lady in the third tier. Rest and Lady are positioned similarly to Michelangelo's Pietà, a sculpture of Jesus lying in Mary's lap after he was crucified. After traversing through Heaven Dante meets God, who explains to him the meaning of life. This is reflected in Kefka, who has become the God of Magic and tells the heroes that life is meaningless. Kefka's God of Magic form bears resemblance to the fallen angel Lucifer, also known as Satan. The similarity was further alluded to with the SNES translation for one of his attacks, Fallen One, one of the names for Lucifer. Humorously, his name means Toothbrush in Slovakian. Overall, Kefka is insane to the point that he scares me a little and is most certainly NOT a Joker rip off, plus he is pretty funny too.
