Stronghold 2
Evil: Cruel, oppressive, relentless ruler
Insanity: Will kill monks for no apparent reason
Powers: Military expertise
Occupation: Would-be King of England, King of the Douchebags
Description: Lord Barclay is the main antagonist of Stronghold 2, and is mostly known as The Hammer, his signature weapon just so happens to be a hammer as well and is the only ruler other than the Hawk to use a blunt weapon. Barclay's defenses in the last level of the good side prove to be a quite formidable opponent, capable enough to hold off three attackers at once and it is not until later that he receives reinforcements from Angus McLoud, a Scottish mercenary under his employ. He has pretty cunning defenses, but don't just let your allies get slaughtered by him, help them and the level will be easier since there will be more targets for his archers to hit, making it harder for him to efficiently kill people. After the level where you have to fight both Olaf and Edwin, Lord Barclay tries to corrupt your character to 'the darkside' or at least that is the way a Star Wars fan would put it. If you chose to side with Barclay, you have to kill all of the people who had helped you out, Sir William, Sir Gray, Lady Seren and the monastery monks, and finally you have to race both Barclay and The Hawk to see who can kill The King first, first one who kills him gets to rule all of England, and the last level in the evil side is harder than the last level of the good side in terms of defense and time (I'm pretty sure that it doesn't matter who kills Lord Barclay). In Kingmaker mode Lord Barclay tends to be that guy that has good days and bad days, sometimes he is very hard to beat, other times he is very easy, but it seems to depend solely on his position on the maps, it just seems to me that he does horribly in wide open estates due to a lack of wood or some other resource or compressed estates. When he attacks you after you defeat Edwin, he sends large groups of Knights and the only way I suggest that you deal with them is to use a lot of archers, and by a lot I mean hundreds of them. In the very little time that you get to know him in the beginning, you know he has to be a dick since he kills one of his own men who failed to hit a single, fast moving target with a cumbersome catapult. Anyway if you underestimate his invasions, chances are you think your walls are firm, you think that he doesn't stand a chance, or you are under the impression that he is a lousy general and also chances are if you don't have enough men, he will conquer or cause mass destruction to your economy before you can actually repel those swordsmen from pillaging your village. Unlike several other characters in Stronghold, The Hammer is a force you should not trifle with.
