Alduin
Skyrim

Evil: Intent on the Destruction of the world and the afterlife
Insane: Completely apathetic to all life but his own, consumes souls from the afterlife to feed himself
Powers: Immortality, the Thu'um, immense strength, the ability to consume souls from Sovengarde
Occupation: The world eater, First born of Akatosh

Description: Alduin is in many ways very similar to World of Warcraft's Deathwing. Both are dragons that are near immortal, intent on the destruction of the world and possess a hatred for everyone on it. Alduin proclaimed himself as the first born of Akatosh, the chief deity of the Nine Divines. Dragons possess the power of the shout, the Thu'um that grants them their many different powers. It is these shouts that make up most of what the dragons are and three shout words make up each dragon's name. Alduin's name literally means Destroyer Devour Master. He ruled the dragon race with an iron fist and at one point had complete control over Skyrim and man. Eventually the Nords rebelled and began to overthrow Alduin and the other dragons. In the final battle against the dragons, when it became apparent that Alduin could not be killed by conventional means, the Nord heroes crafted their own shout that was inconceivable to the dragon tongue (since it was crafted by humans) called Dragonrend. Dragonrend would cause a tear in time and wound a dragon's very soul, draining them of power. When even this wouldn't kill Alduin, the three Nordic heroes used an elder scroll to banish Alduin out of the time loop, hoping he would be lost forever. It didn't work however and he merely reappeared in the fourth era, leaving you the Dragonborn to combat him. He began resurrecting the other dragons, a sign of the end of the world. After you reclaim Dragonrend and defeat Alduin in a brutal fight, he retreats to Sovengarde, the Nordic afterlife to heal himself by feasting on the souls of the dead, which were plentiful in the midst of a Nordic civil war. You than proceed to infiltrate his portal to Sovengarde with the help of his second in command Odahviing and along with the three Nordic heroes who originally defeated him, vanquish him in the afterlife. His death is not certain however, unlike the other dragons you do not absorb his soul which is the only definitive way to kill dragons. Alduin may be an exception to this since his soul is likely different than other dragons either due to his power or some other factor we don't know about. However, it may just be that you killed him in Sovengarde that prevents his absorption. We may never know, both Arngeir and Paarthurnax concur he may yet return to fulfill the prophecy and bring an end to the world.
